Scan lines create NO problem---for me at least (2009-05-03)
This is amazing. So much better than the 2000. It has gotten some small cosmetic changes (like having curvier edges, oval PS, START, & SELECT buttons, and different logos), which makes it look much better than any other PSP out there. Seriously, if you want a PSP, get this one. Scan lines are hardly noticeable.

Brighter screen.....wow (2009-04-18)
I just read threw the improvements this console has over PSP 2000....and it's a brighter screeen....thats it. Is there any reason for anyone to buy this? It's a PSP 2000 with a brighter screen. The hundreds of games comment on the PSP is true but good luck finding them, DS has way more better games, not just games made 5-10 years ago just being re-released on PSP. Sony is not a good company anymore anyway, they are worse then Apple for raping their users for every penney. DS/DSI is killing PSP, espessially if all Sony can add to a PSP 2000 is a brighter screen and call it 3000...lame.

It comes close to portable gaming perfection (2009-04-16)
We've been a PS3 household ever since the 60GB version came about so, with two pre-teens in the house, we were ripe for a PSP adoption. We actually bought the Ratchet & Clank Pack for a few dollars more because one of my kids was a fan of the game.

The Core Pack includes the following:

- The PSP 3000 itself in shiny black (a fingerprint magnet)
- Manual, promos, registration card, etc.

Given the PSP's built-in Wi-Fi and its PS3 integration you can do quite a few things out of the box if you have Wi-Fi or a PS3 but, for a better gaming experience you are going to need a memory stick and, of course, some games. Our bundle came with a 1GB Memory Stick Pro Duo card but we are planning to store a few movies when taking it on the road so we ordered an 8GB. Movies take about 0.5GB. We can still use the 1GB that came with the bundle in a camera.

First impressions:
I was surprised of how good and versatile and elegant this little console can be. It has most of the PS3 buttons, including one analog joystick, the display is large and bright, the resolution is good (480x272), and it responds quickly to controls. It appears to be solidly built. Unlike prior models, this one comes with a built-in microphone while the sound output can be either through the internal speakers headphones (not included). After charging the battery, my kid was up and running and happy in no time. But, let me proceed with a more structured discussion.

Stand alone operation (disconnected):
The PSP 3000 will play games or movies delivered on UMD discs or off a Memory Stick card. In addition, it will display photos and play music stored on the Memory card.

Networking and Internet connectivity:
The built-in Wi-Fi allows the PSP 3000 to access the Playstation Netowork and Playstation Store directly. Off the box, there is an Internet browser, a Search (the Internet) function, several Internet Radio applications and the ability to use the PSP as a Skype phone for as long as one has a Skype account and the PSP happens to be within the range of a Wi-Fi hotspot.

PS3 Integration:
After the PSP is paired with the PS3, the PS3 can 'push' video, photos, music and even PSP games downloaded from the Playstation Store when connected through a USB wire. When wireless, the PSP can basically take over the PS3 - actually display the PS3's own screen and display photos stored on the PS3, play music stored on the PS3. Movie play is not supported.
Interestingly, when playing music, it's possible to play it on the PSP's on speakers/headphones or have the PS3 play it itself, the PSP therefore acting as a remote control device.
I suspect that additional capabilities exist that I am not aware of yet.

PC integration:
Through a USB connection, the PC will see the PSP's memory card as an attached drive. This will allow for music, photo or movie files to be transferred directly to the PSP.

Room for improvement:
The PSP 3000 comes very close to being the perfect portable game-playing (and more) machine, at least in the Sony universe. Perfection would be achieved if the 'keyboard' interface were improved - it's awful now - if it had touch screen capabilities and if file transfers from the PS3 were possible wirelessly. Also on the wish list, I hope that there were more legal 'digital copy' movies available for the PSP.

Rating:
It's a 4.5 stars plus, rounded up to 5.

FUN (2009-04-14)
Great buy! Portable and Lightweight with a huge selection of games. You can put movies, music and photos on it and have them with you on the go. This is my first psp, so i dont know how the other versions are, but the 3000 by far exceeds my expectations. Just 1 complaint which is small but sometimes when your playing certain games you accidently press on the hold switch and it shuts off, but u can turn it right back on where you were at in the game. Pretty fast shipping considering it was shipped to an APO. A+++++++++

turns off (2009-04-12)
The PSP has a great design, a good menu, skype and a nice internet browser. Most of it works without any problems. Then again all the videos and some songs do not work on it, although they are the right type. Moreover, I didn't expect a lot, but the graphics are still disappointing. And the most annoying fact is, that it happens often that the PSP just turns off although it is completely charged. I would recommend it for a person that travels a lot and doesn't take the games too serious, because if it turns off, everything unsaved is lost.

piece of junk (2009-04-28)
waste of money graphic are crapy, virtue fighter2 is way diffrent with the arcades bottom line don,t waste your time and money

Ah....The memories of youth...... (2009-04-20)
I read that this collection had 28 Genesis games, and I grew suspicious. Most collections I saw were not too great. I fired up my PSP, and was happy to see most of my favorites I played almost 20 years ago. (I feel old). Altered Beast, Golden Axe, Sonic 1 and 2, Phantasy Star 2-4, Sword of Vermillion, and more occupy that single UMD disc. I would have been happier to see a couple of them ditched,(Flicky? Come on!) but otherwise it was a very good collection. I would have liked to have seen the Streets of Rage series on this disc, but, you can't have anything. (I know that the disc on the PS3 has it, but I am too cheap to buy one.) Definitely worth the scratch for it.

Great Game (2009-04-16)
I purchased this for a friends daughter and she loves it, cannot seem to put it down. My friend told me it was the best game she ever had and continues to play it for hours on end.
I highly reccomend it to everyone young and old alike

In Sonic WE Trust (2009-04-11)
I thought this arcade set would be better than what I got. I was fooled into thinking that Sonic 1 and 2 would be enough to carry the PSP port of these classic Sega Genesis Games. There are several gems in the title including Vectorman and Shadow Ninja, but aside from those games, this set's a borderline flop. However, these 4 games alone are worth the price, so I recommend this set for anyone who enjoyed sega, but likes the convenience of a PSP. 3/5

horrible..something to just pass time (2009-04-02)
I bought this for my boyfriend along with 5 other games as a valentines present ( He was 19 but, i figured that i should just save the chocolates, and teddy bear things till another time)

Anyways, i bought him 6 games total, including this Sega Genesis collection..I asked him how it was
....

He didn't like it at all...it was just something to do to pass time
I have not actually seen this game in person yet, so im just giving you guys /his review

So, if your'e going to buy this for a person that's into gaming, this would NOT be a choice

HOPE THIS HELPED..
now i got you all skeptic about buying this game, because there were so many GREAT Reviews and here's my one negative review..(well, just telling the truth, people need the truth on what they buy! ESPECIALLY over the internet!)

It's the sheer wackiness of the weapons that makes the game so much fun: among the many weapons at your disposal, you'll have the option of wielding a shotgun, a pistol that shoots killer bees, and a gun that shoots out robots.

The game makes full use of the PSP hardware and incorporates multiple lighting and particle effects without any slowdown in gameplay.

Great system (2009-04-13)
The psp is a great system to have and has multiple application which is the reason I got it. You are sure to get your money's worth when you purchase this.

Battery pack doesn't last (2009-04-10)
Bought the PSP 3000 as a Christmas present for my son. Doesn't use that much since has an XBOX360 at home. In March it stopped working and would not light when plugged in for a charge. I'm assuming the battery is dead. Not a very good lifespan for the battery, I've never need to replace the battery for the Nintendo DS.

PSP 3000 FTW!!!!1 (2009-03-28)
I... love it. No doubt about that... Just one *little* thing I would like to add (:just a rant...?:) MINE came a little roughed up. A small dimple and a scratch on the screen. Buut... it'll get smashed up as I'm using it anyways! I am a sucker for SONY but... I love the PSP. PSP FTW, PSP FTW. BD

Impressive! (2009-03-28)
I recently upgraded, as the PSP has become my favorite console to play games on. I also own a PS3, 360 and DS, but this is by far my favorite. I've never been a huge shooter fan, so a lot of games this generation have been disappointing to me. But the PSP on the other hand, is full of puzzles, platformers both 2d and 3d, action/adventures, racing and just about every other genre I like (portable hot shots golf!) It reminds me of when games were more focused on fun and content rather than filters and texture quality. It's also extremely wallet friendly, with a ton of great games to pick from in the <$20 range. Even the newest games never rise above $39.99.

So really, it's a mixture of having console-style games in my hand and nostalgia. Whatever it is, I really enjoy this thing a lot. The added features such as the music, video, pictures and Internet functions are a nice touch as well. A lot of these reviews have said it better than I ever could, but here's one more strong recommendation. Money very well spent.

Customer Reviews

works well (2009-04-06)
Its not somthing you can, or want, to over stuff. But it works well for bringing a few things for a trip that will take a few hours. Pretty good protection too.

Great case for traveling, but beware that it may damage UMD disks (2009-04-06)
This is a great case for the price. You need to be careful putting your PSP in and out of it to be sure you don't scratch the screen on the zippers. It holds your memory cards which is great. It has spots to hold 4 UMD disks. However, I recommend NOT using storing them here. It is VERY tight, and will end up cracking the cases on your disks. This happened to multiple UMDs that I had. I was able to fix them with a paperclip, but now they are cracked and I have to be careful with them.

The case itself is very nice. Especially for the price. I originally used this with my "phat" PSP-1001, and it worked fine. I now use it with my PSP-2000. It is very durable and I have dropped my PSP in the case many times with no damage.

What I really like the most about the case is the clip that is connected to it. I travel quite a bit and am always walking through the airport. I love to use this to clip to my belt loop when I am listening to music. I am able to put my PSP-2000 in the case with my headphones/remote connected to it and let the cord hang out the top. I then can listen to music and adjust volume while my PSP is in it's case hanging on my belt loop!!! This is BY FAR the best use for the case that I would not give up for anything.

If you don't listen to music a lot with it, and are looking for a case that you can also store games... definitely pass on this. If you just want a case to protect your PSP and use it to travel with while listening to music... there is NOTHING better.

Sturdy, but with an odd detail (2009-03-31)
I got this case for my husband's psp. The psp fits great and the outer rubber shell of the case seems quite durable. However, if you look at the picture, you'll see a carabiner looped through a little strap on the case. That strap is held in place by a large rivet that's punched through the case and sits in the corner of the area the PSP should sit. This means that any time the PSP is in the case, that rivet is wearing on the PSP, potentially scratching, or otherwise ruining, the finish on the back of the system. If you buy this, be prepared to line the bottom with some heavy cloth or something to take the rivet out of the equation. That being said, this case is excellent for protecting and carrying a PSP. The designers just need to make an adjustment.

comment (2009-03-08)
The PSP travel case with pocket that we bought was just a great idea to keep the PSP console protected. It was shipped quickly and the description matches the product. Thank you.

Does the job (2009-03-04)
Provides protection and easy access to all your favorite game or movies to bring along with you all in one case, what more can you ask for?
